  5. Early August update

Cracken Edge Fell Race, the midweek race held in Hayfield was on Wednesday with a good turn out from the club, 3 members of which were running in their role as Glossop Mountain Rescue Team members defending their Buzz Lightyear trophy (an inter-mountain rescue competition at this race). Success for the mountain rescue guys, with Julien Minshull first V50 as well. Full results here.

Borrowdale, an English Champs and Glossopdale Fellrace champs went ahead this weekend, with only a small number of the club getting to the iconic Lakeland Classic race.

Chris Jackson had his best performance at this challenging beast, coming in 73rd in 3:40:44. Jude Stansfield cleared up the Glossopdale points for in the ladies competition, finishing in 5:21:46 in 368th place.

Mary Jeal completed the Half tour of Bradwell, but I can’t find the results up yet, so you’ll have to wait til they get published, however, a damn fine effort from her completing such a race in the heat.

Laurie and Wyatt Barlow had a good morning out on the Decathlon “not quite” 5k (Laurie’s own words) on Sunday, posting a much faster time than their tailrunning on the Glossop Parkrun the day before.

From the photos it would appear that Roger Hart has been double racing this week as he competed in the James Thorn Fell Race. No idea about placings. No doubt we’ll find out at some point when Des gets the results up somewhere, somewhen.

Parkrun Corner

A bevy of Glossopdale-ites gathered at Glossop Parkrun on Saturday. with Mark Ollerenshaw coming in with a new PB of 17:40. Jeroen also recorded a new PB at Glossop, as did Becky Smith.

Meanwhile, Rich White continued his vein of form at Stretford, the dynamic duo of Matt and Adam Crompton stormed around Folkestone, Rachel Higginbottom raided Clumber, Joe and Emma put South Shields to the sword Clive Smith was in South Manchester and Kirsty re-visited Marple.

Apologies if I’ve missed anyone out, drop us a line if I have, and I’ll get you written up.
