For juniors (under the age of 18) wishing to join the club, a parent/guardian must complete the form below. There is a separate form for prospective adult members (aged 18 or above) wishing to join.

Parental Consent

Terms of consent

I consent to my child, whose details have been given in this form, taking part in running training and competition until the date I specify below.
I understand that Glossopdale Harriers official club sessions are held in accordance with the club’s health and safety policy and safeguarding policies. These policies are available to view on the club website.
I accept the hazards inherent in running activities and acknowledge that my child takes part in these activities at my and their own risks.
I confirm that I have read the club policies required by members which are detailed on the membership form, have explained these requirements to my child and will ensure that my child complies with them.
I confirm that any medical conditions my child has have been correctly detailed on this form.
I accept that Glossopdale Harriers shall not be liable to me or my child for any injury, loss or damage of any nature to ourselves or our property arising out of my child’s participation in club activities (other than in the case of death or personal injury as a result of the their negligence).
If my child takes part in the Glossopdale Harriers Club Championship, I consent to the publication of my child’s name, race category, finishing time and race position in results lists.

Duration of consent *

This can be the junior runner's 18th birthday, unless an alternative date is preferred.

Travel to/from club sessions

For a junior runner's first attendance at a club session, a parent or guardian must bring their child to the session and make themselves known to a coach before leaving their child.
If your child makes their own way to/from sessions (after the first session), you may still be required to collect them in case of injury, illness or any other emergency. Please ensure that you, or an adult listed below, are available to do this if required.

Club communications

Glossopdale Harriers communicates with members through the club website, an email mailing list, a closed (members-only) Facebook group and closed (members-only) WhatsApp Community groups.

Regular club sessions are outlined on the Club Runs and Training section of the website. For some sessions, a parent or guardian is required to supervise their child at sessions, as not all sessions are run by qualified coaches.

The email mailing list is used for official notices and club events. Glossopdale Harriers runs a wide variety of events, some of which may require a parent or guardian to supervise juniors, especially if they involve independent running (for example, navigation competitions). This will be detailed in the event information.

Parents can access the Facebook group and/or WhatsApp Community groups on behalf of their child. Official notices will be replicated on these groups; however, these groups are also used by members to organise ad-hoc, unofficial runs amongst themselves. These are NOT organised or regulated by the club. Please contact the run organiser before allowing your child to attend, as not all member-organised runs will be suitable for juniors. We strongly recommend that you accompany your child on any member-organised run. Glossopdale Harriers cannot accept any responsibility for your child's participation in member-organised activities.

Membership type and payment

Club membership type *

England Athletics (EA) affiliation

Please note that EA's affiliation renewal period runs from 1st April to 31st March. Brand new EA affiliations made from 1st January onwards will remain valid until 31st March the following year.

Glossopdale Harriers contributes £5 towards EA membership. EA's affiliation fee for 2025/26 is £20, which is reflected in the annual fees above.

The junior runner's data will be passed to England Athletics and processed in accordance with their privacy statement.

I am aware that the junior runner's data will be passed to the Athletics Governing Bodies and will be processed in accordance with the England Athletics privacy statement. I agree to be bound by the UKA Anti-Doping Rules.

EA Codes of Conduct

As an EA-affiliated club, all Glossopdale Harriers junior members agree to the Children and Young People Code of Conduct and parents/guardians agree to the Parents/Carers Code of Conduct.
