Further evidence of the growing strength of the womens’ section of the club was realised this week. First of all, it was announced that our veteran women had claimed 3rd position in their division of the MANCHESTER AREA CROSS-COUNTRY LEAGUE.

This result represents a superb achievement in this competitive league and puts our team in line for promotion next season.

It was also announced that our women vets had also scored a point in the team competition of the ENGLISH FELL RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015 by coming 10th in the first fixture at FLOWER SCAR

RESULTS

The good news continued with Zoe Barton claiming an excellent 2nd place (45th overall) at the RAS YR ARAN fell race which goes up the bumpy ridge to Aran Fawddwy (905M) south of Lake Bala and back. Tim Budd had another great run to finish 6th; Alasdair Cowell (18th) and Lins Palmer (86th) also had good runs

Three Glossopdale Harriers competed in the FOUR INNS event, a 65K rough moorland crossing from Holmbridge to Buxton visiting ‘The Isle of Skye’ (site of), Snake Pass Inn, Nags Head and the Cat and Fiddle. Andy Oliver and friends’ team ‘Holiday in Crowden’ finished 13th out of 80 starters in a swift 9 hrs 40 mins, Jo Nuttall and Paul Skuse competing in team ‘Mre Bean’s Men’ were 21st in 10 hrs 5 mins.

Park Run Corner

Run of the day was by Caity Rice who had a course PB of 20.32 at Lyme Park but still 4 seconds off Chairman John’s course PB set last year! Andy Burnett also had a course PB of 20.49 and a +70% Age-Grading at Oldham to set a tough marker for the Club Champs. Thanks to Dan Ellingworth for volunteering as a tail runner at Marple. Consolidated results in the usual place.

Kirsty Johnson is in a rich vein of form at the moment and had a massive PB clocking 1.27.31 at the WILMSLOW HALF MARATHON. Tim Nudds was 1st GDH in 1.24.27, good runs also by Matt Crompton 1.39.30 and Dan Ellingworth 2.02.23

Mike Mawby, now with Canterbury Harriers, was 17th in 1.17.23 at the HASTINGS HALF MARATHON
