A gaggle of GDH on a dawn raid of fells pre Parkrun.

Tim has legged it to Tasmania for a couple of weeks, assured there is no racing involved sure he’ll find something suitably daft like a 100 miles in a desert being chased by them racer snakes of off Planet Earth ll or something.

Anyway here is the latest from the GDH world, any mistakes or wild libel then get in touch.

Race Reports

Saturday was the latest instalment of the Manchester Area Cross Country League in Stockport, Kirsty J (7th), Jane M(92nd), Jo B (119th), and Lins P (148th) put in a great show for the ladies and Dave C-L hotfooted from Parkrun to represent the boys coming in 219th.

T’other side of the wall, John H and Chris J visited our friends in the north for the Carnethy 5 with Chris managing 122nd and John cruising to 233rd place in what sounds like very testing weather.

Sunday brought some road action at the Manchester Winter 10km. Mr Banana/Buddy the elf/Pete N dragged their split personalities round for a massive PB of 37.41 and Emma P also joined in the fun with her own PB of 49.00. Must be something motivating about running in the freezing cold!

Championships Update

Next up in the Trail and Road Champs is the Stockport Trail Half Marathon on the 26th of Feb, at least 22 GDH already signed up and places are still available so competition will be strong for valuable points.

No Fell Champs action this week after last weeks epic at Mickleden Straddle, and the next two races have already SOLD OUT. With 12 runners tempted by a free fish and Mary J’s positives reviews venturing south to the Wincle Trout (03/06) and 22 hardy fools heading east for sufferfest that is Edale Skyline(26/03). Should be a fun couple of days out.

Parkrun Corner

Down Manor Park way we had 18 odd GDH out, with Rob W setting a PB as first finisher and Zoe B following suit as first lady with a PB. Also we had Ian and Claire O both celebrating their fiftieth Parkrun.

Around the grounds we had Mary J putting the youth in their place by finishing first lady at Marple, Claire C added on an extra 1km at Medina ‘cos that’s how they role on the IOW, Andy B stepped out in Southampton and Lizzie L led the ladies home down the A57 in Hyde.

Yoof Section

GDH Padawans Adam C and Wyatt B (with Matt C and Laurie B) led a raiding party to Penrhyn Parkrun over Bangor way. Both put in solid performances again and Adam smashed his all time PB coming in at 26 mins. This pair are starting to rack up some quality times over the full distance so massive well done lads.

Coming Up Next Week

Coach J will continue his efforts in testing human endurance at Hurst Crescent (aka Dutch Corner) in Glossop in Tuesday night starting at 18h45. Not sure on what training will entail but it will hurt, keep an eye on FB for more details on Tuesday morning.

Feel the need to run up Cock Hill but just don’t know what day to do it? Worry not as Darren C will be continuing his daily pilgrimage to the summit everyday this week so why not give him a shout and some company.

Bankswood Park appears to be the place to be if you want an early morning beasting, see Steve C and Andy B for more details, I am too scared to ask.

Edale Skyline recce, nothing confirmed but there are plans being formed for a weekend mouch around the new sections of the route so keep an eye out on FB.

That’s your lot till next week guys and gals, keep running and keep sharing your adventures on the fb page.
